Michael Yasinski MD, Founder
Dr. Michael Yasinski is one of the only board-certified psychiatrists in the Southwestern United States known for his truly personalized psychiatric care. His commitment to offering the most innovative and flexible treatment options available has set him apart from his peers. While Dr. Yasinski has many clinical interests, he has always been interested in alcohol use disorders with a specific goal to improve the way alcohol treatment is delivered and to improve the dismal success rate that traditional alcohol treatment offers.
Dr.Yasinski’s intimate understanding of psychotherapy in combination with his unparalleled knowledge of psychopharmacology allows him to offer a treatment approach that is rarely seen in the world of modern psychiatry. In contrast to the traditional 15-minute sessions which has become the norm for most psychiatrists, Dr. Yasinski spends a full hour with all of his patients. This fosters the strong physician-patient relationship necessary for successful psychiatric or medical treatment.
Prior to opening The Moderation Institute, Dr. Yasinski had a variety of experiences including outpatient psychiatric care, inpatient psychiatric care, consult-liaison collaboration with medical colleagues and drug/alcohol treatment. During his psychiatry residency program at The Ohio State University, Dr. Yasinski pioneered an integrated internal medicine-psychiatry clinic. His time in the clinic was spent delivering collaborative care with internal medicine physicians in order to treat patients with co-morbid medical-psychiatric concerns.
Dr. Yasinski started his path to innovation during his undergraduate studies at Arizona State University. He pursued a finance degree, rather than a pre-med or biology degree. He identified an opportunity to be a unique candidate for the field of medicine and he envisioned the potential for a future opportunity where he could utilize his business skills and medical training to practice outside the box of typical physicians. When he became a board-certified psychiatrist twelve years later, Dr. Yasinski realized his diverse studies trained him to naturally think outside of the box and pursue new, more effective ways at delivering medical care. Dr. Yasinski graduated Arizona State University summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Finance. He completed his medical degree at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, and completed residency training in psychiatry at The Ohio State University.
As a result of four years of training during his residency at a large university hospital with a top-20 medical school, Dr. Yasinski worked with some of the brightest minds in medicine. This opportunity afforded him even further knowledge to maximize his approach to providing innovative treatment.
Dr. Yasinski’s training and experience in conjunction with his passion for challenging the status quo have resulted in his utilization of progressive treatment strategies such as Ketamine, low-dose Naltrexone, MAO-I anti-depressants and advanced exposure therapy for severe anxiety. This willingness to go beyond the norms served as the driving force to ultimately develop The Moderation Method which is the foundation of The Moderation Institute.
